Tip: Most succulents are dormancy in summer

Dormancy: A phenomenon of the temporary stagnation of life activities caused by an unfavorable environment. When environmental conditions become better, life can resume growth and development immediately. It is important to know that the dormancy is just "A phenomenon of the temporary stagnation".

There are several main characteristics of succulents after this phenomenon occurs: the leaves fall, the growth stops, the leaves go soft, and they look ugly. So, at this time, do not pursue producing different colors of succulents.

To put it simply, there are three main items you need to care: 1, reduce sunshine; 2, proper watering, and 3, indoor ventilation.

1, reduce sunshine: Within 1 hr of daily sunshine. If the temperature is too high and it is particularly stuffy, keep them in the shade! Take them out to exposed to the sun when the fall comes. They will get pretty soon. Stop pursuing good looks --- even in the greenhouse, the succulents would look worse in summer.

2, proper watering: This depends on the flowerpot. I use pottery basins which are excellent breathability. I watered once per five days or one-week last summer, and hundreds of succulents were fine. No stress at all.

As to porcelain or tin pot, you have to pay more attention because the water might be deposited on the bottom of these pots. When the temperature rises, a small sauna will be created in the pot for the roots of the succulents.  What the result will be? Think about it. The roots will rot.

After summing up, I found a better method of watering: You can spray water on the surface of succulent at 8-10 pm every night. It is OK to pour water directly on the leaves. You can regard it as cooling down because most of the time they are in the shadow that you don't worry about the damage to the leaves by sunshine on the water droplets

3, indoor ventilation: I really know very well what it feels like to be sultry in summer. If you are in the places where there are no winds at all in summer, buy a mini electric fan. It won't consume much electricity in a day. Put it at a suitable distance to blow the plants.
